Team Webmaster : UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Sunday (22/9) said that neither Israel nor the Palestinian group Hamas is not interested in a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
“Neither Israel nor Hamas actually want a ceasefire. I mean, what is negotiated is quite reasonable and both parties should be in a position to accept. Until now, we have seen that every time there is a new development, there are some new obstacles,” Guterres said
“It’s clear to me that both sides are not interested in a ceasefire and it’s a tragedy because this is a war that has to stop,” he said in an interview with CNN.
On October 7, 2023, Israel faced an unprecedented rocket attack coming from the Gaza Strip.
At the same time, Hamas fighters infiltrated border areas, shooting at military members and civilians and taking hostages.
Israeli authorities say about 1,200 people were killed during the attack.
The Israeli armed forces (IDF) launched Operation Iron sword in the Gaza Strip while announcing a full siege of the enclave.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said the death toll from Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip since October 7 has reached more than 41,000.
