School holidays, museums in Jakarta could be an alternative tourist destination

There is still a week left for school holidays in Jakarta. In addition to spending time on vacation to tourist attractions, a number of museums in Jakarta can be a destination to fill children’s holiday time.

Here are some museums you can visit with your family:

  1. The Indonesian Kite Museum

This Museum can be a tourist destination for kite lovers. Located at Jl. H. Stupid No. 38, Pondok Labu, South Jakarta, this museum is the First Kite museum in Indonesia which was inaugurated in 2003.

The Museum is open every day except red dates from 09.00-16.00 WIB. With an entrance ticket of IDR 25 thousand, visitors can see kites from all over Indonesia to various countries.

  1. Puppet Museum

Wayang Museum can be one of the destinations visited by families in this holiday season. This Museum is located in the complex of the Old City of Jakarta tourist area and is open every Tuesday-Sunday at 09.00-15.00 WIB.

In addition to seeing the collection of wayang Nusantara, there is a collection of dolls from Si Unyil and friends to Si Manis Ancol Bridge.

The price of admission to the Puppet Museum is quite affordable, ranging from Rp5, 000 for children and students, to Rp15, 000 for adults only on weekends.

  1. Satria Mandala Museum

The Satria Mandala Museum stores the history of the TNI struggle from 1945 to the present. The Museum contains a collection of war equipment to tanks, Panzers, jeeps, helicopters, ships, and various types of aircraft.

Located at Jl. Gatot Subroto Kav. 14, Jakarta, the museum is open Tuesday-Sunday at 08.00-14.30 WIB with an entrance ticket of only Rp5, 000 per person.

Although the museum is only open until noon, in the museum yard, there is a cafe that is open until the evening and provides picnic-style properties in the park such as mats and picnic baskets.

  1. MoJA Museum

Museum of Jakarta or MoJA Museum can be said to be one of the hits in Jakarta. Located inside the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, namely at the door of the SUGBK Zone 8 Bureau, the museum is open daily from 11.00-19.30 WIB.

With an entrance ticket starting from IDR 125 thousand on weekdays and IDR 135 thousand on weekends, visitors can take pictures in beautiful spots of various colors while playing roller skates. There are aids for those who are not yet fluent in skating on skates.

  1. Museum MACAN

The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara or Museum MACAN is an art museum located in Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta. This Museum is the first in Indonesia to have a collection of modern and contemporary Indonesian and international art.

Museum MACAN is open daily from 10.00-18.00 WIB starting from Rp50, 000-Rp70, 000 on weekdays and Rp70, 000-Rp90, 000 on weekends.

From May 23 to October 6, 2024, Museum MACAN presents a solo exhibition by renowned Australian artist Patricia Piccinini, held for the first time in Indonesia.
